No. 18 Sandy Owls host Beach Burrow Bash for Senior Weekend

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 18 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team (14-13, 2-2 CUSA) will close out its 2024 regular-season slate this weekend as the Sandy Owls host the Beach Burrow Bash for senior weekend on Saturday & Sunday, April 13-14.
This weekend's field includes CUSA foes, No. 14 FIU (16-9, 2-1 CUSA) and Tulane (19-7), as well as No. 16 Stetson (16-7), FGCU (13-15, 2-3 ASUN), and South Carolina (15-9, 0-3 CCSA).
The Sandy Owls will open the weekend on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against FGCU. The Eagles enter this weekend at 13-15 overall and are just coming off a 2-2 split weekend at Georgia State's tournament. Florida Atlantic is 15-4 all-time against FGCU and is on a three-match winning streak, including a pair of wins earlier this season.
Florida Atlantic will then close out day one at 5:30 p.m. against CUSA foe Tulane. Tulane enters the Beach Burrow Bash at 19-7 overall with a five-match winning streak. The Sandy Owls hold a 9-1 all-time lead against the Green Wave and have won the last four matchups, including a 4-1 last season during the CUSA Tournament.
The Sandy Owls will open play on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against South Carolina. The Sandy Owls trail South Carolina 3-6 all-time, but have won three of the last four meetings, including a 5-0 sweep against the Gamecocks earlier this season. South Carolina enters this weekend's tournament at 15-9 overall and are riding a five-match winning streak.
Florida Atlantic will close out the Beach Burrow Bash at 5:30 p.m. against CUSA south Florida rival, No. 14 FIU. The Panthers enter the Beach Burrow Bash at 16-9 overall and 2-1 in CUSA play. The Sandy Owls trail FIU 6-17 all-time and have split 4-4 during the last eight matches against the Panthers. Florida Atlantic's last win came during the 2023 CUSA Championship, which saw the Sandy Owls earn a 3-0 sweep over the Panthers. FIU won the last meeting between the two teams, 4-1, earlier this season on March 16.
