Big In-State Victory for the Owls

TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's women's tennis team traveled to Tampa on Friday where they were scheduled to face their first two road opponents after the season-opening two matches in Fort Myers were canceled due to rain.
The long-awaited road win did not disappoint, with the Owls earning a 4-3 victory over in-state foe and fellow American Athletic Conference member USF. Florida Atlantic will remain in Tampa facing North Texas on Saturday at the USF campus.
FAU captured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. They then moved into singles play, capturing both courts one and three by a 6-4 score.
Panna Bartha moved to 6-0 on the year while Victora Gomez O'Hayon moved to 5-1 and clinched the 4-3 victory for Owls with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win.
"The girls really came together and played their hearts out as a team," said Robbins. "We are all super proud of the hard work paying off. Big win today and time to get ready for another big conference opponent tomorrow."
