Women’s Tennis Move to 6-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two road wins, both versus American Athletic Conference opponents, moves the Florida Atlantic women's tennis team's record to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 on the road.
The Owls, who last played North Texas in 2021, used the weekend to improve their record against UNT to 3-3 all-time with a 4-1 win.
FAU got it started with doubles wins on court two and three for the match's first point. Holding the 1-0 lead, the two teams moved into singles play. Freshman Panna Bartha continued to take college tennis by storm downing her court one opponent 6-1, 6-4. Millie-Mae Matthews followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon clinched the match with a three-set win.
Panna Bartha moved to 7-0 on the year while Victora Gomez O'Hayon moved to 6-1.For the second-straight day Gomez O'Hayon clinched the victory for FAU.
FAU will return home to play host to South Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. This match was recently added to the schedule.
"The team showed resilience and a big fighting spirit," said Alvarez. "The entire match was very close and it came down to a couple of points where the girls' demonstrated courage and confidence. We are very happy with the way they are competing.
