BOCA RATON, Fla. – Juan Martin Jalif and Florida Atlantic men's tennis team received two pieces of good news on Tuesday.
The Owls climbed six spots in the latest ITA poll, moving up to No.35 nationally. An instrumental reason for that climb is the play of Jalif, who was named the American Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.
The graduate transfer holds an 8-1 singles record and a 7-2 doubles record in dual match play. Jalif was 2-0 last week.
The Salta, Argentina native worked with Alberto Colas on court #1 to defeat UTSA's duo, who are ranked No.29 nationally, 6-0. Jalif then moved to singles play where he played on court #2 for the first time in 2024 after splitting time on courts #3 (2-1) and #4 (5-0). He proved the move to be a good one with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Jalif's win moved the match score to 3-1 in favor of the Owls who would go on to win the match 4-1.
