BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball (4-2) will play the first of two midweek games on Tuesday when UCF (5-0) visits the FAU Baseball Stadium for the only time this season. The sides will meet again in Orlando on March 19.
The Owls swept Towson over the weekend, outscoring the Tigers by a combined score 29-3 across three games. The Tigers scored first in all three games but struggled to generate offense with lights-out pitching performances from FAU starters
C.J. Williams,
Trey Beard, and
Tyler Murphy. The Owls bullpen also locked things down with 10 relievers combining for 11 shutout innings.
Christian Adams was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after an 8-for-14 series including a home run, four RBI, and seven runs scored.
Brando Leroux has at least one hit in all six games so far this season. He leads the Owls with 10 RBI and a .417 average.
UCF comes into Tuesday's matchup at 5-0 with wins over Bryant, Miami (Fla.), and most recently, Samford, whom they swept in three games over the weekend.
Junior catcher Andrew Sundean leads the Knights with a .524 average and eight runs scored. Fellow junior Andrew Estrella's 12 RBI are a team high.
Head coach Rich Wallace is in his first season at the helm for UCF.
The Owls have won the last three against UCF, including a sweep of the season series in 2023. A win on Tuesday would match FAU's longest winning streak against the Knights since winning four straight in 2003-04.
The eight-game homestand continues Wednesday when North Florida visits for another 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
