BOCA RATON, Fla. – Entering her third season in Paradise, Florida Atlantic University track & field coach Georgette Nixon has been promoted to Associate Head Coach, as announced by head coach
Alex Smolka.Â

Nixon's promotion follows coaching one of the most successful seasons on the track for the Owls in recent memory. Nixon and the rest of the Owls will look to maintain their momentum in the 2023-24 season, their first as a member of the American Athletic Conference.Â

Runners soared to new heights under coach Nixon's guidance in the 2022-23 campaign.
Jessica Lambert became the first to represent the Owls in the NCAA Regionals since 2019. Lambert was the Conference USA champion in the 800m for both the indoor and outdoor season while setting a new school record in the event almost every time she ran it.

The success spread to the entire team in a year that saw 11 new school records, 34 entries into the top 10 school record book, and 64 personal bests set.Â
