BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2023 fall season on a high note at the ninth annual Florida Atlantic Invitational.

With both teams running the 5K, the women's team impressed with a fourth-place finish out 18 teams, while the men's side earned a sixth place finish out of 16 teams.

It was a night of the newcomers, with neither of the top finishers for the Owls on each side had run an official cross country race with FAU.

Women (5K)
- After impressing as a member of the track team in the 2022-23 season, Elyssa Toal was on top for the Owls on the women's side, finishing in sixth place out of 178 runners with a time of 18:22.3Â
- 2022's FAU Invite star Casey O'Connor recorded a time of 19:15.5, finishing in 27th place
- Jordan Stevens followed closely behind in 29th place (19:21.4)
- Anna Rovirosa (19:25.3) and Anabell Reumann (19:28.5) placed in 31st and 32nd, respectivelyÂ
Men (5K)
- In his first ever collegiate race with the Owls, sophomore Paul Glick led the way for the Owls with a time of 16:32.1
- Logan Sallas posted a time of 16:46.5
- Freshman Samuel Henery logged a time of 16:55.2

The Owls will enjoy a weekend of rest before heading to Gainesville to compete in an NCAA Preview Meet on Friday, Sep. 15, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
