BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball remains on the road this week as they head to the Buckeye State to compete in the Miami/Best Western Invitational hosted by Miami (OH) at Millett Hall.

The Owls will open play on Friday, Sept. 1 against Cleveland State at 10:30 a.m., before closing out their opening day against EKU at 3:30 p.m. Florida Atlantic will close out the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. against host Miami (OH).

Scouting FAU

The Owls are just coming off a hard-fought 3-1 defeat at Miami on Monday and hold a 2-2 record so far in 2023.
Florida Atlantic is led offensively by Kaila Ru, who has recorded a team-leading 40 kills, averaging 3.08 per set, while Katelynn Robine and Romina Cornelio have recorded 31 kills, averaging 2.07 per set each.
Victoria Hensley is the Owls' assists leader, dishing out a team-best 107 assists, posting 7.13 per set.
The Owls' leading libero is Isabelle Northam, who has averaged a team-leading 4.40 digs per set.
Ru leads the Owls in blocks, posting 12 blocks, averaging 0.92 per set, while Arianna Beckham ranks second on the team in blocks with eight blocks, averaging 0.57 per set.

Scouting Cleveland State

Cleveland State is a perfect 3-0 through the first weekend of the 2023 season.
The Vikings opened their season at the Leatherneck Classic, earning a 3-2 win over Murray State, and a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Western Illinois and Tennessee State.
Cleveland State is led by sophomore Laken Voss, who has 43 kills, averaging 3.91 kills per set, through three matches.
The Vikings assists leader is Karly Klaer, who has 83 assists and averaging 7.55 assists per set.
Emma Walker leads Cleveland State's backline, tallying a team-leading 3.64 digs per set.
At the net, the Vikings are led by Madison Olinger, who has posted 1.82 block per set so far this season.

Scouting EKU

EKU is 1-2 to start the 2023 season, earning a 3-1 win over Northwestern State, but falling in a pair of 3-0 battles against Mississippi State and Louisiana.
Offensively, the Colonels are led by Kambree Lucas, averaging 3.90 kills per set, followed by Sarah Mitchell and AG Vandagriff, averaging 2.8 and 2.7 kills per set each, respectively.
The Colonels utilize a pair of setters, led by Chloe Mason averaging 6.4 assists per set, as well as Emilee Hill, who has recorded 4.9 assists per set this season.
Jose Schmitendorf leads EKU in digs, recording 4.0 digs per set, while Kambree Lucas ranks second on the team in digs with 3.1 digs per set.
Carson Ledford is EKU's blocks leader, recording 11 blocks, averaging 1.1 blocks per set in 2023.

Scouting Miami (OH)

Miami (OH) went 2-1 during its season-opening weekend, falling 3-0 against Samford, before bouncing back with a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Alcorn and Memphis.
The RedHawks are led offensively by Ellie Hanson, Raegan Lantz, and Chelsea Williams, tallying 2.89, 2.88, and 2.75 kills per set, respectively.
Miami (OH)'s assists leader this season is Hayden Hicks, averaging 7.56 assists per set.
Defensively, the RedHawks are paced by Ellie Hanson and Emily Morgan in digs, averaging 2.89 and 2.5, respectively.
The RedHawks blocks leader is Gentry Warrick, who has tallied 0.78 blocks per set this season.
