BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team will head to Denton, Texas for the 2023 Conference USA Championship, hosted North Texas, this Thursday through Sunday. The Owls have earned a first round bye as the tournament's #5 seed and will play #4 Louisiana Tech on Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. With a win, FAU will then play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 versus the winner of match four, which features FIU and the winner of the tournament's first match between #8 UTSA and #9 UAB.
The Owls hold a 1-1 all-time record versus Louisiana Tech, winning the last match back on March 3, 2018. La Tech won the first match played on January 25, 2014. FAU will enter the championship with four players holding double-digit wins.
Millie-Mae Matthews leads the squad with a 14-10 record (12-6 in dual match play).
Katerina Filip has earned 12 wins opposed to 14 losses on the season and is 9-10 in dual match competition. Both
Martina Kudelova and
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon hold records of 10-14 and 10-9, respectively.
