BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team earned a Conference USA Championship first round bye as the No. 5 seed and squared off with the No. 4 seed Louisiana Tech, Friday afternoon in Denton, Texas. The Owls dropped the match 4-0.
The Owls (8-14) gave up the doubles point with
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and
Millie-Mae Matthews holding a 5-4 lead when the best-of-three doubles point was clinched by the Bulldogs. Louisiana Tech (19-5) then captured courts three, one and four to secure the best-of-seven victory.
FAU's season came to an end, but not before
Martina Kudelova, who has played on the top court for the majority of her career, firmly became the program's all-time career singles matches played leader at 105. She surpassed Pia Terol, who saw action in 83 career singles matches.
