ELKHART, Ind. â The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim and dive team concluded the CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Saturday.

Select swimmers and divers competed in the three-day meet after qualifying in their respective events from times achieved earlier in the season.

Competing against their largest field of the season with 41 men's teams and 56 women's teams, several Owls were able to keep up their momentum from the regular season and conference championships. This includes
Rateb Hussein, who won the championship in the 50 fly, as well as
Dalton Lillibridge who set a school record in the 200 breast.

Overall, Florida Atlantic's men's team finished in 15th place, while the women's team placed in 34th.
Â
Thursday
- Hussein earned the gold in the 50 fly with a time of 20.97, finishing first out of 20 swimmers in the finals after tying for first place out of 95 swimmers in the prelims with a time of 21.23
- Maggie Casey improved her time in the 500 free to 4:58.74
- The men's 400 medley relay team (Max Ahumada, Lillibridge, Hussein, Logan Thornsberry) tallied a time of 3:14.46, finishing in ninth place out of 32 teams
- The NCAA Championships-bound diver Alicia Mora earned a second place finish on the 1-meter dive (out of 38 participants) with a score of 285.2.
Friday
- The women's 800 free relay team (Kasia Szlek, Casey, Lydia Lanahan, Julia Earnshaw) finished with a time of 7:28.53 to place in 16th out of 32 teams
- Hussein had another strong showing, this time in the 100 fly, placing in fifth out of 20 swimmers (47.13)Â
Saturday
- Lillibridge set an FAU record twice in one day, previously set by himself in the 2023 CCSA Championship. In the prelims of the 200 breast, he set the record by a tenth of a second with a time of 1:58.20. He followed this up in the finals with an incredible 1:57.83
- Timo Paisley set a new personal best in the 1650 free with a time of 15:34.67. He overall placed in ninth out of 36 swimmers
- Logan Thornsberry captured 10th place out of 24 swimmers in the 1000 free (9:28.40)

While the swimming season has wrapped up, the diving team will send Mora to the 2023 NCAA Swimming & Diving DI Championships. Mora qualified for the championship in the 1-meter after an incredible performance in the 'Zone B' Championships. The meet will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center from March 15-18.
