BOCA RATON, Fla. – Week 16 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books with six former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action. Here's a rundown of how each performed during the 16th week (All gametimes listed below are Eastern):
Active Owls (6) #2 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | Tennessee Titans
- Al-Shaair now has sole possession of sixth place among the NFL's leading tacklers (145) after recording eight against the Seattle Seahawks. This also marks the most tackles in a season by a Titan since 2010. Al-Shaair made consistent plays in the backfield including two tackles for loss as the Titans fell just short to the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 20-17. Titans' Record: 5-10 (Fourth in AFC South, eliminated from postseason contention) Next Game: at Houston (and Singletary) – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX)
#88 Harrison Bryant | TE | Cleveland Browns
- Bryant hauled in his lone target for a six-yard reception in Cleveland's 36-22 win over former Owl teammate Devin Singletary and the Houston Texans. He played 32 snaps total, 22 on offense and 10 on special teams. Browns' Record: 10-5 (Second in AFC North, currently fifth seed in the conference) Next Game: vs. N.Y. Jets – Sunday, 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video)
#91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals
- Make that seven consecutive games with at least a half sack for Hendrickson, now in second place across the entire NFL with 16 sacks. It is the most ever recorded by a Bengal in a season since sacks became an official stat in 1982. He made three total tackles on the night as Cincinnati fell to the Steelers, 34-11. Bengals' Record: 8-7 (Fourth in AFC North, same record as three other teams in position to capture the conference's seventh seed and final wild card spot, though due to tiebreakers are currently the 10th seed) Next Game: at Kansas City – Sunday, 4:25 p.m. (CBS)
#1 Greg Joseph | K | Minnesota Vikings
- Joseph was once again perfect on Sunday afternoon, making all three of his extra point attempts and his one field goal attempt in the fourth quarter to bring the score within one possession. All four of his kickoffs went for touchbacks. Minnesota could not hold on, ultimately losing to the Detroit Lions 30-24. Vikings' Record: 7-8 (Second in NFC North, currently eighth seed in the conference) Next Game: vs. Green Bay – Sunday, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)
#42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers
- Pierre would see the field 14 times on special teams in the Steelers' massive 34-11 win over fellow former Owl Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals. The special teams ace downed a punt in the second quarter that pinned the Bengals' offense on their own seven, which eventually led to great field position and a touchdown by Pittsburgh. Steelers' Record: 8-7 (Third in AFC North, same record as three other teams in position to capture the conference's seventh seed and final wild card spot, though due to tiebreakers are currently the ninth seed) Next Game: at Seattle – Sunday, 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

Texans' Record: 8-7 (Third in AFC South, same record as three other teams in position to capture the conference's seventh seed and final wild card spot, though due to tiebreakers are currently the eighth seed) Next Game: vs. Tennessee (and Al-Shaair) – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX)
