Robbins Earns C-USA Player of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior captain Hunter Robbins has earned Conference USA Tennis Player of the Week honors, as announced by C-USA, today.

Robbins is the first C-USA player honored in 2023 and earned the recognition after going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles during the Owls' opening weekend.

Ricardo Gonzalez, FAU's director of tennis, gave Robbins a shoutout for his efforts to lead the Owls to a 2-1 record by his energy, presence and leadership and continued by saying those qualities are contagious.

FAU opened 2023 with a loss to UC Santa Barbara after playing 3:30 hours in windy and 50- degree weather that felt much colder. The Owls rebounded on Sunday with a C-USA 4-3 victory over Rice, in a match that lasted nearly four hours. FAU returned to the courts on Monday to defeat in-state foe USF, in a match that was much tighter than the 4-0 score.

Robbins entered the season with a 4-1 career dual match record and has now pushed that to 7-1. His career dual match doubles record now stands at 26-11.

NEXT UP

The Owls will next travel to FGCU on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and will then head west to Austin, Texas where they will pick up two matches. The first versus Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 28 and the second versus either Cal or Texas on Sunday, January 29. FAU will not return home until March 3rd.
