BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will look to stay unbeaten in conference play when they travel to UCF on Saturday night. The match was originally scheduled for Friday but was pushed back 23 hours due to lingering effects of Hurricane Ian.
- The Owls made history last Saturday when they defeated UAB 1-0 becoming the first FAU program to earn a win in the American Athletic Conference
- Andreas Raisanen scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute off a cross from Zach Hassell
- Raisanen earned a spot on this week's AAC weekly honor roll
- Axel Hofmann earned his first goalkeeper win and clean sheet with a two-save performance
- At 1-0-1, the Owls enter Saturday tied for second in the AAC with four points
- UCF saw its three-game winning streak snapped last Saturday in a 3-2 defeat to then-No. 24 Memphis
- The Knights have scored at least two goals in five of their six matches
- Their only two losses so far have both been against ranked opponents – in addition to the Memphis match, the Knights also fell to No. 15 Wake Forest in the season opener
- Junior forward Lucca Dourado leads the way with six goals and enters Saturday having scored in each of the last four matches
- Head coach Scott Calebrese is in his sixth season in charge
- UCF leads the all-time series 23-8-3 dating back to 1981
- FAU and UCF both competed in the Trans America Athletic Conference (now known as the ASUN) from 1993-2005
- In that period, the Knights held a slim 9-6-1 advantage over the Owls
- These two teams last met in 2019 when UCF came away with a 3-2 OT victory
- Each of the last five meetings have been in Orlando – UCF has not visited Boca Raton since 2012
- This will be the last matchup between the two schools as part of the AAC (barring a meeting in the postseason tournament) – UCF will join the Sun Belt in men's soccer next season
- The Owls will travel to Oklahoma on Wednesday for a midweek AAC matchup against No. 12 Tulsa beginning at 8 p.m (EST).
