BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team resumes AAC play on Saturday night with a matchup against UAB at the FAU Soccer Stadium. The Owls drew 1-1 with USF in their first conference match last weekend.
- After the draw with USF last Friday, the Owls met North Florida on Tuesday for a midweek match
- The Ospreys snagged a 74th minute marker and held on late for a 1-0 final
- The Owls' next five matches will be inside the American – only one non-conference match (October 18 vs. FGCU) remains in the regular season
- After Saturday, FAU's next three matches are against teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches' poll
- UAB is 2-5 overall and coming off a loss to Mercer in non-conference play on Tuesday
- The Blazers fell 3-0 to Charlotte in their AAC opener last Saturday
- The schedule has been anything but easy for the Blazers so far – in addition to No. 12 Charlotte, they've faced No. 1 Clemson, No.5 Wake Forest, and No. 21 Lipscomb
- Lipscomb is the only common opponent between UAB and FAU – the Owls lost 2-0 to the Bison while the Blazers fell by a 7-0 final
- Graduate senior Nathaniel St. Louis is responsible for three of the seven goals UAB have scored this season
- St. Louis led the team with five goals in 2021
- Jeff Kinney is in his fourth season as head coach of the Blazers
- UAB was one of three schools (along with Charlotte and FIU) to join FAU in moving to the American Conference as an affiliate member for this season
- UAB has a slight edge in the all-time series (6-5) but the Owls have won the last three meetings including a 3-1 victory in Birmingham last season
