FAU’s Winning Streak Hits Six

The 49ers started a back-and-forth battle with a run in the bottom of the third, but the Owls' got it right back with an RBI single from Myah Murray in the fourth. Charlotte countered with a run in their half of the fourth, before a 50-minute rain delay struck before the start of the fifth inning.
The rain delay did not slow down the FAU bats, as Kaitlyn Cunningham drove in a run with a base knock in the fifth. After the 49ers pulled within 5-4 with a two-run homer, FAU once again had an answer in the sixth inning.
Jones belted a solo homer to right in the sixth to extend the FAU lead to 6-4. In the seventh, pinch runner Maddie Carlock stole home after the throw went down to second.
Lynn Gardner delivered her 20th complete game of the season to improve to 17-7. Gardner allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out three.
Eight out of the nine FAU starters recorded hits, led by Cunningham's three. Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Maya Amm also recorded a multi-hit day. FAU recorded 12 hits as a team, one off the single-game high for the year.
