MURFREESBORO, Tenn.  – The Florida Atlantic University softball team suffered a tough loss to Middle Tennessee on a walk-off home run on Saturday. The Owls led in the seventh inning, 3-1, but the Blue Raiders rallied and stole one from FAU with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Owls (19-17, 7-4 C-USA) plated a pair of runs to score first in the second inning. With two runners on,
Olivia Peterson laid down a bunt. The Middle Tennessee pitcher tried to get
Riley Olson, the lead runner, at third but threw it away. Olson popped up off the dirt and went home to score the first run.
The next batter was
Maya Amm, who drove in
Myah Murray with an RBI sacrifice fly to get FAU out in front, 2-0.
The Blue Raiders singled in their first run of the game in the fourth inning. The 2-1 score held up until the sixth inning.
Zoey Jones got into one and ripped a line drive home run down the right field line. The round-tripper was Jones' second of the year, which is tied with three other Owls for the team lead.
Sara Berthiaume,
Sommer Baker and
Olivia Peterson all have two home runs on the season in addition to Jones.
Middle Tennessee rallied with a single, double, wild pitch and home run in the bottom of the seventh to steal the win from FAU.
FAU starter
Donnie Gobourne struck out eight batters but took the tough loss. Gobourne delivered her fourth complete game of the year.

The Owls and Blue Raiders will battle in the rubber game tomorrow at 1 p.m. eastern time.
