BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team (24-13) will head to Fort Myers on Tuesday night for a meeting with Florida Gulf Coast. It will be the first of four on the road this week for the Owls.
The Owls are coming off a sweep of WKU over the weekend. The series started on Thursday with a complete game effort from
Hunter Cooley. The Owls capitalized on five Hilltopper errors and rode their senior captain Cooley to a 5-3 victory.
On Friday night, FAU used three home runs, including a go-ahead solo shot from
Shane Magrann in the eighth inning, to sneak away with an 8-7 win.
They hit four more long balls in Saturday's finale to close out the series out with a 9-3 victory.
Tyler Burnham made another strong start on the mound, allowing just two hits and one unearned run in five innings.
FGCU is 22-14 overall. The Eagles are led offensively by freshman outfielder Harrison Povey with 11 home runs and 44 RBI. Ian Farrow (11) and Joe Kinker (12) are also in double figures in homers. Alejandro Figuredo's .379 average is a team high.

FAU is 13-12 all-time against FGCU. The Owls won three of four meetings last season. In the final matchup in late March, the Owls fell behind 8-0 after two innings but rallied back with a seven-run fourth in route to a 13-11 victory.
