MIAMI – The No. 10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (21-8, 7-1 in Conference USA) finished the regular season on a tremendous note with two 5-0 sweeps at the FIU Beach Bash Tournament on Friday. A lengthy lightning delay did not slow down the Owls, as the team defeated Tulane 5-0. The Owls followed that up with a dominating 5-0 sweep against FIU, all in straight sets, marking FAU's first sweep over the Panthers in school history. With 21 wins, FAU has matched a single-season record for total wins.
Â
"We were dealt with some situations that were a first for all of us," said head coach
Capri Grotowski. "How the team handeled them and performed the way they did was nothing less than awesome. The coaches and I knew they could play at this level and it was so rewarding for all involved to finally see them believe it. Next up is lots of work to get ready for conference."
