BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team, ranked No. 43 nationally, has enjoyed an outstanding 2022 season. With the regular season complete, the first of many expected postseason accolades was announced today with junior
Kevin Huempfner and sophomore
Finn Stodder earning Conference USA All-Academic honors.
The duo hold two spots on the 12 member C-USA All-Academic Tennis Team and join UTSA and Rice as universities with two members while Charlotte, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, UAB and UTEP also were represented.
Huempfner holds a 3.770 cumulative GPA as a business major. He has not received a GPA lower than a 3.5 and has received academic honors since arriving on campus as well as holding a spot on the Dean's List in both the fall and spring semesters of 2021. Stodder, also a business major, has a 3.619 cumulative GPA. He has been above the 3.5 GPA mark since coming to FAU in the fall of 2020.
During the 2021-22 season, Huempfner has built a singles record of 20-7, including a 14-4 dual match record playing either the No. 1 or No. 2 positions. Stodder holds a 16-7 overall record and a 14-3 dual match record, primarily playing No. 6.
The German duo played doubles together in the fall tallying a 4-0 record. This spring, they have worked with several partners. Huempfner is 20-6 overall and 13-5 in dual match play, as well as 7-1 at No. 2 doubles. Stodder holds a 16-7 singles record and is 11-5 in dual match play. He is 16-7 in 2021-21 doubles play and 11-5 in dual match doubles play.
Huempfner and Stodder will next represent the Owls at the 2022 C-USA Men's Tennis Championship, scheduled for April 22-24 to be played at Old Dominion.
