STANFORD, Calif. – The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team tied for 10th out of 28 teams at the Goodwin Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford.
Max Sturdza shot three consecutive rounds of par or better to lead the Owls in a tie for 25th individually. Nevada's Peyton Callens won individual medal honors at -13 while Washington came from eight shots back in round three to claim the team title at -22. Six of the nine teams ahead of the Owls were nationally ranked. The event was contested on the 6,742-yard, par-70 Stanford Golf Course in Santa Clara, Calif.
- Sturdza opened with a 67 on Friday and backed it up with two rounds of 70 to finish at -3 (207) for the tournament.
- He totaled 12 birdies in three days to record his second Top 25 of the season.
- This was the first time this season Sturdza has completed 54 holes under-par
- Jake Hibbert fired a pair of 69s in the first two rounds and closed with 72 on Sunday
- Hibbert's second round served as the Owls' low score of the day
- At even-par for the tournament, Hibbert set a new career-best in relation to par for 54 holes
- The Owls vaulted up the team leaderboard on Sunday thanks in large part to under-par rounds from Alex Maguire (68), Juan Delgado (67), and Guilherme Grinberg (67)
- FAU moved up eight spots in round three with the second lowest team score in the field (-8)
The Owls will have two weeks before their next event begins on April 11. They will travel to Montgomery, Texas for the Bayou City Collegiate hosted by Rice. It will be the final stop before the Conference USA Championship on April 25.
