BOCA RATON, Fla.  – The Florida Atlantic University softball team is set to face WKU in a three-game Conference USA series this weekend. Game one will be on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by game two on Saturday at 4 p.m. Sunday's game is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

The weekend's series features the top two teams in the Conference USA East Division. The Hilltoppers enter at 21-5 and 5-1 in conference action, while the Owls are right on their heels with a 4-2 Conference USA mark and a 16-16 overall record. WKU is also receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.

FAU split the doubleheader against Central Arkansas in its last time out. The Owls took game one, 4-1, before dropping game two, 5-0.
Donnie Gobourne continued her effective pitching in game one, going the distance for her first victory and second complete game of the season. Gobourne struck out six batters and allowed only three singles in the win. In her last five appearances, she has allowed only three earned runs in 18 innings for a 1.16 ERA.
Kaitlyn Cunningham paced the FAU bats with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate. The FAU center fielder recorded a double, triple, RBI and run scored.
Sommer Baker also went 2-2 with a run scored and a triple.

The Owls have hit 11 triples this year which is good for an average of 0.34 per game. That ranks FAU tied for 18th in the nation in that category.
Sara Berthiaume and Baker lead FAU with four triples a piece. That ranks the Owls' junior duo tied for 37th in the nation.

After the series against the Hilltoppers, FAU will travel to Middle Tennessee next weekend for a three-game set.
