CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team has an opportunity to make history on Sunday. The Owls will compete in the Conference USA Championship Game against UTSA. The final features the fifth-seeded Owls up against the sixth-seeded Roadrunners will begin at 1 p.m. eastern time in Charlotte and can be seen on ESPN+.

The Owls are seeking the program's first Conference USA Tournament Championship in program history. The school's only conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance came back in 2005, when the Owls captured the Atlantic Sun title. This year also marks FAU's last one as a member of Conference USA, as the Owls will become a member of the American Athletic Conference next year.

The winner of Sunday's championship match also earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament.

- FAU took down the host Charlotte in the C-USA Semifinals on Friday night by a 2-1 final score
- Charlotte scored first but FAU withstood the storm and battled back. Thelma Hermannsdottir's score evened the match in the 19th minute
- In the second half, Bri Austin put the Owls out in front in the 61' after an assist from Mia Sennes
- Austin has now scored in three consecutive games, and ranks second in C-USA in goals with nine this season
- The Owls have won four in a row, a streak that began on Oct. 23 at Middle Tennessee
- FAU has competed in two Conference USA Championship Games, both under current head coach Patrick Baker. The Owls were defeated in 2016 by Charlotte in the title game, then fell to North Texas in the 2019 final
- This year, the Owls are an unblemished 10-0-0 when scoring multiple goals

- The Roadrunners are also seeking their first Conference USA Title
A ticket to the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament is awarded to the winner. The full brackets will be revealed in a selection show on Monday.
