BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will play at home for the final time this regular season when they host No. 12 SMU on Friday night. Prior to the match, four seniors -
Ricardo Packer,
Nacho Alastuey, Diego Orduña, and
Tim Bernhardsson -- will be recognized.
- The Owls will be trying to get back on track after falling 2-0 to Memphis last Saturday
- With two matches left in the regular season, the Owls are one point behind UCF for the final spot in the AAC Postseason Tournament. They are tied with Charlotte with 8 points
- FAU is 2-3-3 on its own turf -- they were 4-4 last season and 4-1-1 in 2020
- Victor Claudel leads the Owls with four goals – three have been from the penalty spot
- Fritz Kleiner and Spencer Mallion are tied with three assists each
- SMU is 9-3-1 overall and ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll – this is the fourth ranked team the Owls have faced this season
- The Mustangs currently lead the AAC with 15 points
- They are coming off a 3-1 win over USF last Friday
- Graduate senior midfielder Knut Ahlander leads the conference in points (24) and is second in goals (10)
- SMU has scored 34 goals in 13 games – second in the AAC only to Charlotte's 39
- FAU and SMU have met just once – the Mustangs prevailed 1-0 on October 4, 1998
- The Owls will conclude the regular season on the road in Miami next Wednesday against FIU
