Tampa, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams completed their last race before the C-USA Championships on Friday at the USF Invitational.
Â
The meet was highlighted by another strong performance on the women's side with a top three finish for the team and two individual finishes in the top five.
Â
"Today was a good day all around," said head coach
Alex Smolka. "Our women's team is continuing to make progress! The gap between our top five is shrinking and we're competing well throughout the race. We have a good pack just behind Madlen (Kappeler) and Casey (O'Connor). It was great to see Madlen compete for the individual title and Casey continuing her great season. Although, it really was a team effort today. Everyone stepped up and competed well! On the men's side, Chris (Jones) ran a nice PR on a tough course. Logan (Sallas) is continuing to lead the guys and all of them are making progress. We're excited about the overall improvement of the entire team! Now it's time to buckle down and get 10 days of strong training done before the C-USA Championships."
