Boca Raton, Fla.  – The Florida Atlantic University track & field team will kick off their 2021 indoor season with a pair of meets in Birmingham, Alabama. The Blazer Invitational and Vulcan Invitational - both hosted by UAB - will take place on Jan. 14 and 15, respectively.

- The Owls had an outstanding showing at the Conference USA Indoor Championships last February, posting their highest point total (40) and best combined finish (7th) in a championship event since joining the league in 2013
- Jessica Lambert took gold in the 800 meter event with a blistering 2:11.98, good enough for fourth fastest in school history
- Cara Simpson ran fifth in the 200 meter dash in 24.73, setting the tenth fastest school mark. Simpson also placed sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.7 seconds
- Two Owls finished in the top 15 in the 3000m event. Madlen Kappeler ran seventh with a time of 10.02.37 and Paige Saiz getting up for 14th with a 10.20.44
- The 4x400 meter relay team finished just off the podium in 4th place. Lambert, Simpson, Roshelle Francois and Madison King combined to finish in 3.52.00
Following the Vulcan Invitational, the Owls will have two weeks off to rest before the two-day Bob Pollack Invitational hosted by Clemson from Jan. 29-30.
