BOCA RATON, Fla. – The FAU women's swimming & diving team was defeated by FIU on Friday by a final tally of 196-104. The meet was the Owls' final full meet before the Conference USA Championship and the last one at home for the 2021-22 season.

In the first event, the Owls' 200 medley relay squad set a freshman record. The team of
Roberta Circi,
Mary Adam,
Dolores Margni and
Kasia Szlek stopped the clock at 1:46.34, breaking the former freshman record of 1:47.59.
FAU also set a freshman record in the final event, which was the 200 freestyle relay.
Ocean Veldhouse, Szlek, Margni and Circi clocked in at 1:37.85, topping the old freshman record of 1:38.11.

- Maggie Casey finished in first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.21. Casey also took second in the 500 free (5:14.81) and third in the 100 free (53.08)
- Szlek won the 500 free at 5:07.77, as well as the 100 free with a time of 10:30.27
- Circi took first place in the 200 back touching the wall at 2:09.20. She also took second in the 100 back stopping the clock at 56.32
- In the diving well, Selina Staudenherz placed third in the three-meter (269.93) and fourth in the one-meter (282.68)
- Margni captured second in the 200 fly at 2:04.45 and third in the 100 fly with a time of 57.96
- Riley Trout swam to third-place finishes in the 200 back (2:07.52) and 400 IM (4:38.38)
The Owls will return to the deck for the Pre-Conference Diving Invite next Saturday, Feb. 5, against FIU and Florida Gulf Coast. The women will compete in the C-USA Championship from Feb. 23-26, while the men will compete in the CCSA Championship from Feb. 16-19.
