Owls and Panthers Set for First Four of Eight in a Row

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University baseball takes on FIU each of the next two weekends, the first series of which is on the road, starting Friday night in the first game of a four-game set.

Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls (18-18, 7-9 Conference USA) split a road set in Birmingham at UAB. The capper was a gritty complete game effort from Javi Rivera, which came part of a 2.84 overall ERA for the series by FAU pitching. Saturday game one starter Dante Visconti gave up just one run in six-plus innings, and Jackson Spiller had 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief on Friday.

Owls' Weekend in Preview
FIU (15-21, 6-10 C-USA) too had a 2-2 league series split. The Panthers fell twice to Marshall, who had had a 14-game losing streak coming into the weekend, and then defeated Stetson in a Wednesday midweek. One of the Panthers' weekend wins was a no-hitter by reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week Steven Casey. The team's rotation is led by 6-1 Tyler Myrick, and the lineup by .315-hitting Angel Figueroa. He also has a team-best 24 RBI.
