BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team, the second seed in the Conference USA East, takes on the West's No. 3, Southern Miss, on Tuesday evening in Houston at the league's annual C-USA Championship tournament.
The quarterfinal round matchup is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Eastern, and will be streamed live on
ESPN+. The winner of this matchup moves on to play either 1W Rice or 4E Old Dominion on Thursday.
Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls (5-3-2, 4-1-1 C-USA) capped off the regular season with the team's third consecutive clean sheet, whitewashing FIU, 3-0. At the conclusion of FAU's match, the East Division top seed was still up for grabs, as WKU and Charlotte was locked in a scoreless draw late in their match in Bowling Green. But with 40 seconds left, WKU scored the game-winning goal, and clinched the top slot, making the Owls No. 2 in the East.

Owls' Weekend in Preview
Southern Miss (6-3-0, 4-2-0 C-USA) finished off an unbeaten 2021 home season with a 3-1 win over Louisiana Tech to earn the West Division's No. 3 seed. The leading goal scorer for the Golden Eagles is Ariel Diaz with five, while the team's two keepers virtually split time, Kendall Mindnich (372:03) and Sarah Preston (257:57).
Opponent History
The Owls have won four of six matches in the all-time series. The teams didn't meet up this year, but FAU won the last regular season match, 3-1, in Hattiesburg on Oct. 6, 2019. At the 2018 C-USA Championship, the Golden Eagles knocked out the Owls in the semifinals, 1-0.
