CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (5-4-2, 2-4-0 in Conference USA) fell short of No. 14 Charlotte (5-2-1, 5-0-0 C-USA) by a 1-0 decision on Saturday afternoon. FAU got 11 shots off in the match, but came up empty with the equalizer following Charlotte's goal at the ninth minute.

Charlotte took the first three shots of the game, while capitalizing on the third one off a goal that found the low left corner of the net at the ninth minute. FAU got four shots off in three minutes, including a nice look from
Alonso Coello Camarero, whose equalizer attempt was saved by the Charlotte keeper at the 21st minute. The 49ers went almost 30 minutes without getting a shot attempt off. Following the 49ers goal, the first half was dominated by the Owls, who finished the half with a 6-4 shot advantage, but still trailed, 1-0.

In the second half, the Owls and 49ers took five and six shots apiece, which neither finding the back of the net. At the 66th minute,
Ivan Mykhailenko's header went past the Charlotte keeper, but the goal was called off, as the striker was offsides. FAU took nine corner kicks in the match, but was unable to score off those chances. The 49ers came up with their fourth consecutive shutout, as the Owls fell short, 1-0.

- Mykhailenko led the way with three shots, while Luis Sailer Fidalgo, Coello Camarero and Jose Alastuey followed with two apiece
- Neil Strauber captured two huge saves in the match, while conceding just one goal in 90 minutes played
- Daniel Skistad, Coello Camarero and Vasilis Spinos played all 90 minutes of the match
- The one goal the Owls allowed was the least amount of goals the 49ers have scored in a game since February 12

The Owls will be back at FAU Soccer Stadium for the regular season finale against UAB on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
