Mykhailenko Claims C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. –  The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team is coming off a huge 2-1 victory over South Carolina last Saturday. Ivan Mykhailenko was a key part to the league win and has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. This honor marks the first for the striker this season and second in his career.

Mykhailenko logged two goals in Saturday's win against the Gamecocks to lead the league with four points over the past week of games. The Kyiv, Ukraine product matched a career-high two goals and set a career-high in shots on goal with five. Mykhailenko's first goal, the game winner, was buried at the second minute, while the second strike was made off a team effort in the 21st minute of the match.

In the C-USA rankings, Mykhailenko stands at third in goals per game (.571), fifth in shots per game (2.9) and eighth in points per game (1.14). On the national scale, Mykhailenko is 16th in shots on goal per game (1.86), 18th in shot accuracy (.650) and 21st in game-winning goals (two).

Mykhailenko won C-USA Player of the Week honors last season after a five-point performance in the Owls' 3-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast. The senior is the second Owl this season to win a weekly honor from the league, as Neil Strauber was recognized as C-USA Defensive Player of the Week in late February.

FAU has a tough road test on the agenda with a visit to No. 8 Marshall this Saturday at 11 a.m. The Owls will be back at FAU Soccer Stadium for the regular season finale in two weeks following, on April 17, against UAB at 1 p.m. All game days and times are subject to change.
