BOCA RATON, Fla. –  The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team's goalkeeper
Neil Strauber has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is the first weekly award the men's soccer team has received this season, as well as a first for Strauber in his first season with the Owls.

The Tel Aviv, Israel product recorded his third shutout in four games at Jacksonville on Friday, as the Owls took down the Dolphins, 4-0. Strauber captured three big saves on the afternoon, while not allowing a single shot to meet the back of the net to earn a 1.000 save percentage. Strauber has been instrumental in the Owls' effort to commence the season at 3-0-1, its best start since 2013.

Strauber has conceded one goal in four games and leads C-USA in goals against average (0.237), save percentage (0.9380 and shutouts (three). He is also ranked fifth in shutouts among NCAA goalkeepers, as well as 28th in goals against average and save percentage.

This marks the second consecutive season an FAU goalkeeper has received C-USA Defensive Player of the Week.
Hagay Jalon won the award twice in the 2019 season.

The Owls play tonight, Tuesday, at Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. FAU's next home matchup is set for March 13 at 2 p.m. against Kentucky. All game days and times are subject to change.
