BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team will take its talents to South Beach, Florida for the FIU Surf & Turf on Friday and Saturday. Â
On Friday, the Owls (7-5) will compete against Tulane at 11:30 a.m. and FIU at 4:45 p.m. FAU will play FGCU at 9:45 a.m. and Tampa at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.Â
"Coming off a great weekend at home, we are excited to bring that momentum down south," FAU coach
Capri Grotowski said. "Another tough weekend ahead and we are excited for the challenge."Â
FAU has played two of the Surf & Turf's teams earlier this season. In the season-opening Stetson Spring Fling, FAU defeated FIU, 3-2, for its first win in the rivalry's history. The Owls bested FGCU, 4-1, in this past weekend's FAU Beach Bash in Paradise.
The Owls hope to continue their momentum from the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise, a tournament it finished 3-1 in. FAU's sole loss over the weekend was to the undefeated and No. 1-ranked Florida State Seminoles, and the Owls took two points in that matchup – tied with LSU for the most against FSU all season.
