Brok, Morris Enjoy Undefeated Weekend

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 12^th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team had a second-consecutive strong day at the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise, defeating FGCU 4-1 and falling to No. 1 FSU by only one point.

This was FAU's first home event since April 12, 2019, and its 3-1 record over the weekend has them at 7-5 on the year.

Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris, the winningest pair in FAU history, improved to a team-best 9-3 this season after going 4-0 at the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise. The Brok/Morris pair has now won six-straight matches.

Match One vs. No. 1 FSU
The Owls gave the 17-0 Seminoles one of their toughest tests of the season. Brok and Morris earned a victory on Court One with Ellie Austin and Kenley Adams adding another win on Court Two. FSU has ceded two losses in only one other game this year. The Austin/Adams pair gave FSU's Keara Rutz and Torrey Van Winden their first loss of the season.

Match Two vs. FGCU
FAU's Court Three (Jillienne Cangelosi and Kaila Dorish) and Court Four (Savannah Pesante) pairs played thrilling three-set matches, both culminating in Owls victories. Brok and Morris collected a dominant two-set victory, with Adams and Austin securing another two-set victory.

"Really proud of the team this weekend," FAU coach Capri Grotowski said. "We had tough matches. Everybody played really well. We did a little bit of changing up with the seeds, and we still want to find the best FAU beach that we can. We got a lot of skilled girls, very talented. We just got to find what exactly the best is. So, we're still kind of working on that. But all in all, it was a good weekend: 3-1, losing 3-2 to the No. 1 team in the nation – I'll take that."

UP NEXT
The Owls will next appear at the FIU Surf N' Turf Invitational in South Beach, Florida. They will battle No. 20 Tulane, No. 13 FIU, FGCU and Tampa during the March 26-27 event.
