Miami (1-1) has had its first two games at home, defeating Canisius last Tuesday (77-67) and falling to UCF Saturday (95-89). The Hurricanes were 10-17 last season and were voted 12th of 15 teams in the ACC preseason poll. Third-year sophomore guard Isaiah Wong was named to the league's preseason First Team after averaging 17.1 points a year ago. Opponent History
The Owls won the last game played between the two squads in Boca Raton, 74-73 in overtime on Dec. 3, 2002. Earnest Crumbley set a then-FAU record (that still stands as an FAU Arena record) eight 3-pointers towards a 25-point effort.
Â
The teams have played nine times since, seven times in Coral Gables and twice in Sunrise – with one of the latter a neutral game. The last meeting was Nov. 8, 2019 at UM, a 74-60 Hurricanes win. Of those on this year's FAU roster, only Forrest,
Dardan Kapiti,
Madiaw Niang and
Everett Winchester saw action that night, with Forrest and Niang drawing starts.
Â
After This
The Paradise Classic is on tap at home this weekend, with the Owls playing three times in the four-day event (Friday against UT Martin, Saturday versus North Dakota and Monday hosting Troy). Six games dot the schedule in total over the four days.
