BOCA RATON, Fla. – Rateb Hussein, a junior on the Florida Atlantic University men's swimming & diving team, was selected as Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday.
Hussein earns his fifth career CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor after a strong performance in the Owls' meet against Florida. Hussein captured first place in the 100 fly, touching the wall at 48.92. That time is a mere 1.61 seconds shy of the FAU program record, which he set in the 2019-20 season.
The junior from Cairo, Egypt, swam on the Owls' second-place 4x400 relay squad that clocked in at 3:06.53. Hussein rounded out his Saturday with a third-place finish in the 200 fly (1:50.54) and a third-place finish as a part of the 200 medley relay team (1:32.88).
This is the second straight CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week honor for the Owls, as
Alec Peckmann took home the recognition last week.
Next up for FAU is the TYR Fall Classic hosted by FIU on Oct. 8 and 9.
