BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's tennis, under eighth-year head coach Ricardo Gonzalez, is pleased to announce the team's 2021 spring schedule.
The Owls will lift the lid on the spring season this weekend in Gainesville, Florida, taking on Florida at 1 p.m. on Saturday. As of now, the team is slated to be on the road for the first seven matches of the season, with the '21 home opener scheduled for one month from today, Saturday, Feb. 13, hosting Florida Gulf Coast at the FAU Tennis Complex.
Gonzalez returns eight players – including Oracle/ITA preseason No. 122 singles player Maxime Lapraille – from last year's abbreviated season, and adds in four newcomers; three are Division I transfers, along with one true freshman. Fans will have the opportunity to see the 12-man team in action six times this spring in Boca Raton. In addition to Feb. 13 against FGCU, the other home dates are Feb. 20 (USF), Feb. 21 (UCF), March 10 (South Alabama), March 12 (Liberty), and April 18 (Temple).
The full 2021 spring schedule – subject to change and culminating with the 2021 C-USA Championship that will begin on April 23 – can be found HERE.
"Our team is thrilled about getting back to season mode," said Gonzalez. "Competition is something that we have all missed and we are ready for it. We are thankful for getting another opportunity to get another season kicking in. A big shoutout to our administration and everyone working behind the scenes to make this possible. Nothing is possible without them."
