BOCA RATON, Fla. – This time last year, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team was nearing the end of non-conference play, heading into the 2019 Conference USA slate. The year prior, on the final day of the regular season, the Owls found themselves tied with North Texas for the crown. In 2019, the team looked to earn the title outright.

"I thought we were exceptional at times (tonight), really exceptional. There's three or four sequences that (it was) just a shame the ball didn't end up in the back of the net, just with the sequences and the spacing and the timing of the runs and the quality of the pass … Even though we've had a couple of nailbiters up to this point, it was nice to get a little bit of a cushion, it was nice to get those three goals inside of about 10 minutes there in the first half."
Â
Coach Baker Reflects Back Now
"It was Opening Night (in the league) and we were in a really good place. We were excited to start the 2019 campaign, and I thought we did really, really well adhering to the scouting report. We traditionally don't score that many goals in conference games, so to get four, it was a great performance."
Â
Key Moment or Stretch
"That 10-minute period overall, with the three goals, was big. It changed the whole complexion of the game. The game got more comfortable … to have separation was good, and it was a great way to start the campaign."
Â
Key Player – Miracle Porter
"Miracle was really good that night. She created the chance that Gi scored on (the first goal), and scored herself. Those were key moments, where she created the opportunity and she was opportunistic when she scored herself."
