Women’s Tennis Team, Four Owls Receive ITA Academic Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team received Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors on Monday, while four Owls garnered individual accolades by the association for their academic prowess.

The Owls finished the 2019-20 abbreviated season with an 8-3 record, but more importantly, the squad posted a 3.645 GPA, fourth highest among the 21 Owl teams. The ITA gives this All-Academic Team award to schools with a cumulative 3.20 GPA or higher.

Each team member recorded above a 3.0 GPA, with newcomers Radka Buzkova (Bohutin, Prague) and Karin Kozlejova (Kosice, Slovakia) earning spots as ITA academic superlatives. Joining the freshman were sophomore May Kimhi (Shoam, Israel) and junior Natalie Kallmunzerova (Prague, Czech Republic). Individuals at 3.50 or higher for the academic year are recognized.

"The fact that this team continuously wins in the classroom is proof of the successful culture women's tennis has cultivated," said Caroline Wheelen, FAU's head coach. "I'm especially proud of Radka Buzkova, who was a freshman and able to achieve this. Winning both on and off the court is Owl culture."
