Alblas, Courtney, and Laureyssens Honored as Scholar-Athletes of the Year

BOCA RATON, Fla. – A trio of Florida Atlantic athletes: Carolin Alblas of women's golf, Autumn Courtney from softball, and Daniel Laureyssens of men's swimming and diving, were honored by the American Conference as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for their respective sports.

The three honorees combined their strong athletic performances with success in the classroom over the course of the 2025-26 academic year.

Alblas finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA in her senior campaign as an Owl. On the golf course, she competed in nine events during the season and finished as the runner-up at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship.

Courtney, a reigning All-American, was denoted as Florida Atlantic's Female Student-Athlete of the Year and earned a GPA of 3.666. She produced a second consecutive season with a spot on the All-Conference first team and led the team with 123 strikeouts to go with a 17-11 record and a 2.69 ERA.

Laureyssens is denoted as an at-large recipient for men's sports not sponsored by the American. While finishing with a GPA of 3.8, he helped the Owls make history with their first conference title in program history. He then represented FAU in two events at the NCAA Championships, the first Owl to qualify since 2006. Laureyssens earned Florida Atlantic's Male Student-Athlete of the Year honor.

Florida Atlantic is tied with Charlotte, ECU, and Tulane with three Scholar-Athlete of the Year selections, second most among teams in the American.
