BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country has unveiled the 2020 schedule, as announced on Friday. The Owls will host a meet and compete on the road in two different events before the Conference USA Cross Country Championships and NCAA postseason.
To kick off the 2020 season, the Owls will host the seventh annual FAU Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4. The meet will kick off at 6:30 p.m for the men followed by the women with a 7 p.m. start time. The invite will take place at the South County Regional Park in Boca Raton.
The team will then travel to Gainesville, Florida to participate in the UF Gator Cross Country Classic for the eighth consecutive season. FAU will head to Gainesville on Saturday, Sept. 26 for a 9 a.m. kickoff.Â
FAU will conclude the regular season at the UAB Blazer Classic on Oct. 16. The team will then have two weeks of rest to prepare for the C-USA Championships hosted by UAB in Montevallo, Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 31. The NCAA postseason will commence two weeks later with the South Regionals in Tallahassee, Florida.
"This year's schedule could certainly be described as qualifying over quantity," said head coach Alex Smolka. "We're racing less than in years past, but we've chosen meets, which we feel will prepare us very well for the C-USA champs and the NCAA South regional meet at the end of the season! Like in years past we're excited to host our annual home meet as our season opener, before heading to Gainesville, Birmingham twice and Tallahassee this fall."Â
