BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team has 20 of its returnees spread across six different summer leagues, four that are underway and two holding Opening Day today.
The South Florida Collegiate League was the first to get things started, back on June 12. Unsurprisingly, with the league's 10 teams located between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, this is where the vast majority of Owls – 12 of the 20 – are playing,
Three other Florida leagues have FAU representation as well, the Florida Gulf Coast League (in the Tampa Bay area, since June 22); the Florida Collegiate League (Central Florida-based, began on June 29); and the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches, in West Palm, which begins today.
Finally, a couple of non-local Owls are playing nearer to their native homes, in the Corn Belt League in Omaha, Nebraska (since June 22), and the Texas Collegiate League, like the CLPB, opening up today.
