BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team steps out of C-USA action to travel to Fort Myers for a doubleheader against FGCU. The Owls will face the Eagles on Tuesday with the first pitch coming in at 5 p.m. at the FGCU Softball Complex.Â

- The Owls have started off the 2020 season with a 7-13 overall record while being 2-5 at home and just started conference play with a 1-2 record
- Senior, Kaitlyn Burke leads FAU batting a .355 overall with 22 hits and 15 RBIs
- Myah Murray is close behind Burke supporting a .321 with 18 hits, two doubles, a triple and six RBIs on the season
- In the circle, Kara Lokeinsky owns a 2.33 ERA pitching 27 innings for a 3-1 record with 11 appearances striking out 10 batters
- FAU is looking to improve upon a 20-30 (7-17 C-USA) season in 2019. The Owls missed the conference tournament for the first time
- The team welcomes 12 newcomers, as well as brings back 11 players and four everyday starters

- Tuesday will be the 13th meeting between the Owls and Eagles
- FAU has won the last three out of the last five matchups, as the Owls have won the past three meetings 2-1 in 2019
- In 2019, FAU spilt the doubleheader with FGCU 2-3 during the opener then 7-3 to close out the year
About the Eagles
- FGCU has started the 2020 season with an 18-7 overall record coming off a 29-22 2019 season
- The Eagles competed at The Spring Games at Madeira Beach going 2-2 over the weekend; but FGCU did not face FAUÂ
- The Eagles most recent loss came against No. 7 Florida last week with a 1-3 decision, FGCU is currently on a five-game winning streak
- Johneisha Rowe is currently leading the way for FGCU supporting a .459 batting average followed by Maddy Johnson with a .371 and Reedy Davenport batting a .356
- In the circle, the Eagles is led by Junior, Taylor Bauman with a .41 ERA and junior Sarah Lawton with an 8-3 record pitching 67.1 innings for a 1.87 ERAÂ
- After opening C-USA action this past weekend FAU went 1-2, with the most recent loss being a 1-5 decision on SundayÂ
- During the weekend, the Owls started out with a 9-5 win but fell in game two 5-8, and game three 1-5 to drop the series opener 1-2Â
- Burke who brought in the most runs over the weekend with three RBIs went 4-10 with three runs hitting a 2-run homerun, her first of the year and second of her career
- Jolie Duffner started out the weekend with a solo shot for her first collegiate home runÂ
- Claire Blount led the way in game one going 2-4, with two RBIs, a double, a run scored
- In the circle, Lokeinsky each collected a win over the weekend pitching 9.2 innings earning four strikeouts

FAU will return home after two weeks on the road to host Southern Miss in a C-USA matchup. The Eagles and Owls series will begin Friday, March 13 with first pitch being scheduled for 6 p.m.
