No. 13 Beach Volleyball Ready for Battle on the Bay

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 13th-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team will play in its third tournament of the season this weekend, the Battle at the Bay in St. Petersburg. The Sandy Owls' No. 13 ranking in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll is the highest in school history.

The Owls will play Jacksonville at 10 a.m. and UT-Martin at 2 p.m. on Friday, then face Tampa and Florida Southern on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

ABOUT THE OWLS
FAU will return home to host the Beach Burrow Bash on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. Live stats of all matches will be available at fausports.com and in-game updates for the FAU matches will be available at Twitter.com/FAUBeachTeam.

ABOUT THE OWLS
- At 7-1, FAU is off to its best eight-match start in program history
- The Owls have started the same five pairs for every match this season
- Savannah Pesante/Ellie Austin and Sam/Gott/Jillienne Cangelosi have 7-1 records, while Erica Brok/Mackenzie Morris, Kaila Dorish/Courtney Moon and Megan McGrath/Maylin Bouffard all sport 6-2 marks on the year
- FAU had a perfect 4-0 record at last weekend's Stetson Spring Fling
- The Owls swept Saint Leo in their first match on Friday, then beat No. 16 Georgia State 4-1 in their second
- On Saturday, the Owls defeated No. 7 Stetson 3-2 and closed out the weekend with a sweep of St. PetersburgÂ
- FAU has a combined 7-1 all-time record against the tournament field
- The Owls dropped their first meeting with Jacksonville, but have won the last four encounters
- Friday's meeting with UT-Martin will be the first ever
- Tampa and FAU faced off for the first time last season, with the Owls sweeping the Spartans in Boca Raton
- FAU and Florida Southern have met in each of the last two seasons, with FAU sweeping both timesÂ
- Jacksonville (1-11 in 2019) will be opening its season at this weekend's tournament
