BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team is bolstering its talented young roster with Blanka Decker, a German golfer who will be signing for the fall 2020 semester.
"We continue to make strides as a program and adding Blanka to our team this next year will help us continue our upward trend," FAU head coach
Aimee Neff said. "She works hard, loves competing and brings the attitude we are wanting. I am excited to welcome Blanka to the Owl Family!"
Decker comes to FAU with an impressive amateur résumé. In 2019, she finished first in both the Under 18 competition and Women's Championship at Nordrhein Westphalian. Decker earned runner-up honors at the German Team Championship Under 16 in 2018, and at the German Championship Under 18 a year after.
In July 2019, Decker set a course record by shooting a 4-under-par round at the Coesfeld Golf and Country Club.
Decker joins an internationally diverse FAU team, including underclassmen
Rosa Barnak (Denmark) and
Justine Fournand (France). She'll also play with a fellow German,
Lilian Klug.
FAU returns to tournament action on March 7 at the Florida Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
