Owls' 2019 in Review/2020 in Preview
The Owls (41-21) took home the 2019 Conference USA regular season title, made it to the finals of the C-USA Championship, and advanced to their fifth NCAA regional in the last seven years. Though six Owls moved on to MLB organizations, six starting position players return for the 2020 campaign, three of which were named Preseason All-C-USA: First baseman Andru Summerall, second baseman Francisco Urbaez and rightfielder Bobby Morgensen. League coaches picked the Owls second in the preseason poll.
Â
Owls' Weekend Opponent in Preview
Delaware (21-33) finished eighth in the Colonial Athletic Association standings a year ago at 9-15, and has been predicted to finish seventh this season, with two Preseason All-Conference picks: infielder Joseph Carpenter and outfielder Kyle Baker. Carpenter, like FAU outfielder Mitchell Hartigan, was a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American last year (and was voted as CAA Rookie of the Year).
Â
Weekend Probable Starting Pitchers
The Owls and Blue Hens met for the first (and only) time early in the 2018 campaign, a three-game FAU sweep by scores of 7-2, 2-1 and 6-3. Jake Miednik and Kyle Marman each posted 14-strikeout outings in the first two games, and Miednik would be named C-USA Pitcher of the Week. The only current FAU players to appear in the series were Summerall and Jared DeSantolo.
