Owls Finish Fifth in FAU Warm-Up

BOCA RATON, Fla. – As the FAU Winter Warm-Up progressed, Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team improved. The Owls recorded a 289 in the third round – the third best single-round score by any team – and finished fifth overall in the 54-hole, 14-team tournament at Osprey Point Golf Course.
FAU (897) finished 19 strokes behind the winner, Arkansas State, which recorded a 14-over-par 878.
Like her team, FAU freshman Justine Fournand gained momentum with each passing round. She shot a 3-under-par 69 in the third, following scores of 78 and 75 in Rounds 1 and 2. Fournand finished tied for 12th individually with a 6-over-par 222.
Freshman Kim Egozi shot a 9-over-par 225 to tie for 18th. Senior Taylor Morgan finished one stroke behind Egozi, tying for 23rd with a 226.
"I'm glad to see us respond today, but it's certainly a wake-up to know we can certainly improve in the next four tournaments we have in the regular season. It takes a lot of mental endurance and stamina, but I think there were plenty of highlights and we can continue to grow from that."
Neff on Fournand's Round 3 performance:
"She's stepping up already as a freshman and making those gains, and I think she'll continue to play well this spring. But I'm glad that we got those the first two rounds behind her so that she could have a little positive mojo going into our next event."

"Nothing can really replace tournament golf. You can play against your team, you can go out and play, practice, make things as hard as you can. But there's just something that's different about actually playing in a tournament with other teams and having the butterflies sit a little bit differently."
