BOCA RATON, Fla. - As the weekend comes-to-a-close, the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team continued their split schedule.
The group in Miami, saw their Saturday washed out by rain while the Milwaukee, Wisconsin group saw their tournament end with Saturday's action.
Head Coach Caroline Wheelen
"Most of the girls that competed in Miami did fairly well for their first college tournament, but there are a couple of new players that really have a lot to work towards in order to play at the level we require at FAU," said Wheelen. "The group that played in Milwaukee upset the No. 2 seed in doubles on Saturday and the group had great first round wins, but did not believe in themselves or work hard enough during their summer months to beat the top-50 college players. The top players never stop working and due to NCAA regulation, it is up to the players, individually, to work hard on their own to basically keep up. The players learned a few lessons over the weekend and we will work towards fixing some of the obvious issues such as time management on the court. But, I'm happy with the maturity level of freshmen (Radka) Buzkova brought to her first college event and the mature mental changes
Natalia Boltinskaya has made to her tennis game."
