BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will open the season at home for the first time since 2016 when it hosts the FAU Invitational this weekend. Grambling State, Stetson and Niagara will make up the rest of the field. Â

Season Preview: The Owls went 21-7 last season, including a perfect 14-0 at home, extending their home winning streak to a school record 15, the fourth longest active home winning streak in the country to begin the year. Â
FAU returns four starters from last season, including First Team All-Conference and AVCA All-Region selections
Massiel Matos and
Sigourney Kame. Kame is already eighth in school history with 1,006 career kills and is on pace to finish second in that category.
The Owls will have to overcome the loss of setter
Ivone Martinez, who led the country in assists per set for the second year in a row and graduated second in school history in career assists.

History: FAU won its only previous meeting with Grambling State back on Aug. 25, 2007. The Owls hold a 35-4 all-time record against Stetson and are currently on a 15-match winning streak against the Hatters. Saturday's encounter with Niagara will the first ever between the two schools.
