BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two games separate Florida Atlantic University baseball and No. 29 Southern Miss in the Conference USA standings, and the Owls travel to Hattiesburg this weekend to take on the Golden Eagles for a three-game set.
Owls' Midweek in Review
The Owls (30-14, 15-6 C-USA) won their sixth straight midweek game on Tuesday, in the only matchup of the regular season against Florida Gulf Coast, 11-5.
Hunter Cooley picked up his fourth win of the year, and first when starting a game, to tie
Mike Ruff for second on the team in victories.
Bobby Morgensen hit his sixth home run and fourth in six games, and he and
Joe Montes each knocked in four runs.

Owls' Weekend in Preview
The No. 29 Golden Eagles (30-13, 17-4 C-USA) topped No. 13 Ole Miss on Wednesday, 5-2, and have won nine games in a row. They swept Middle Tennessee last week on the road and Charlotte the week prior at home to move to 9-0 in league games at Pete Taylor Park. Their last series loss was on the road at FIU, losing two of three. Bryant Bowen is the team's top hitter at .362, and he and Hunter Slater each have nine home runs, while Matt Wallner has 14. They're the team's top three run producers as well (Slater 46, Wallner 43, Bowen 40).

Opponent History
After winning three of four last year, including the title game of the C-USA Championship, USM now holds a 10-7 lead in the all-time series. The Golden Eagles have won seven of the last eight, including a sweep in Hattiesburg in 2017. That snapped a five-game Owl winning streak in 2015 and 2016.
